Bizarre Devotion

She took a lock of his hair,
and threw it in the ocean.
As a symbolic gesture,
to some bizarre devotion.

She dug her toes in the sand,
and turned her nose to the wind.
She'd never come here again,
at least that was the plan.

I guess you never know,
just how the story goes,
until it gets told.
At least that's what they say.

She used him as an excuse,
to feed her own desires,
but the flame grew higher.
He'd always be her man.

She had a book full of poems,
that she wrote long ago.
She took it up to the mountain,
and there she let them go.

She raised her hands to the sky,
and turned her nose to the wind.
She'd never come here again,
at least that was the plan.

She headed straight for the coast,
in search of a ghost.
She found a lock of his hair,
and put it in her pocket.

She sat down in the sand,
with her back to the wind,
turned her face to the sky,
he'd always be her man.
